Healthy homemade pizza? Is it possible? Yep! If your family is anything like mine, you probably often hear the plea, “Let’s have pizza tonight!” Yeah, been hearing that all week at our house. No problem! We have pizza about once or twice a month and while it’s still a treat (the ingredients are pretty expensive on our little island), we don’t have to compromise our healthy eating standards with this recipe; nor do we have to compromise the taste!
Healthy Homemade Pizza with Honey Wheat Crust
1 cup warm water
1 Tbsp yeast
1/4 cup honey
1 tsp salt (I prefer to use Himalayan salt)
3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
3 cups whole wheat flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water; stir in honey, salt, and oil. Gradually add flour till dough consistency, continuing to add flour while kneading. Spread dough onto greased pizza pan (or cookie sheet). Top with favorite toppings.
Our Favorite Pizza Sauce:
1 small can Italian style tomato paste
2 Tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup water
Combine all together and spread over pizza dough.

- olives
- mushrooms
- bell peppers
